NAPOLEONIC - THE MOVIE

The idea behind Napoleonic was to create a psychological thriller in the tradition of The Twilight Zone and The X Files , set in contemporary post-Katrina New Orleans. It was filmed on location throughout the lower 9th Ward, Lakeview, French Quarter, Downtown, and Uptown areas of the city, with additional footage at the Jefferson Juvenile Justice Center

The long journey of bringing Napoleonic to the screen began with original characters created by Ty Granderson Jones. After a few years of production attempts, Jones partnered up with the Imminent Studios team to make the project a reality. Inspired by the bizarre characters, Peter Compagno and Joseph Forest Riccobono created the story concept for the film, setting it in their hometown of New Orleans. Compagno and Riccobono secured the financing from Executive Producer David Richard with sponsorship from Cult Energy, and would go on to co-write and produce their first film along with Jones.

Instantly, Napoleonic came to life, but this was just the beginning. Jones would next call on the experience of his longtime friends and associates, screenwriter/director David Raynr, and his brother, producer Michael Hubbard, of Bright Idea Entertainment. From their production office in Los Angeles, Napoleonic was creatively developed, and it seemed that each addition to the project gave this little film its unbelievably positive momentum going forward.

And when the script was finally ready, Jones introduced his heavy hitting journeymen actor friends to the scene; Nick Mancuso, Roger Guenveur Smith, Donna Duplantier, and Musetta Vander all came to bat for Napoleonic. Through casting director Suzanne Broderick, the crucial roles of Little Napoleon, played by the dynamic Drew Rin Varick, and Josephine, portrayed by the beautiful and talented Ella Thomas, were added to the list. The talent was definitely in place.

Now it was time to kick the production into high gear, and for that they relied on their Line Producer, the ever resourceful Kirsten Wagner. Director of Photography Turner Jumonville, a long time associate of Riccobono and Compagno, lent his expert eye in creating the visual style alongside Director David Raynr. Production Designer Peter Dang then helped bring that vision to life. Compagno and Riccobono used their hometown resources and connections to secure locations, and a mere seventeen hours before principal photography began, the final location was locked and the two could breathe again.

Napoleonic was made possible by an exceptional cast, crew, and production team that lent their talents to create something quite unique and interesting. This project brought together professionals from Los Angeles and New Orleans in a way that the producers intend to be just the beginning.
